Bookings for 2026 Are Now Open
We are now taking bookings for our 2026 residencies at Mud and Wool.
To apply, please get in touch and tell us a little about yourself — your creative practice, what inspires you, and what you hope to gain from your time in residence.
Many of our past residents have shared that they almost didn’t apply because of imposter syndrome. They questioned whether they could really call themselves an artist.
At Mud and Wool, we believe creativity doesn’t need a label. Whether you’re a full-time artist, a part-time maker, or someone nurturing a hobby or long-held passion, this residency is about giving you dedicated time and space to create.
There is no such thing as imposter syndrome here — only curiosity, exploration, and the freedom to make.
We can’t wait to hear from you.
Artist Residencies More Information
We offer 1-month long and on occasion 2 or 3 week Art Residencies during the winter and occasionally other months throughout the year.
We welcome all creatives to apply artists, writers, musicians etc and at all stages of their creative journey.
The aim of the residency is to give the creator the time and space for a month to fully concentrate on their chosen creative pursuit in a beautiful quiet rural environment. We are looking for people who are wanting to further their creativity and are looking for the time and space to do this without any outside pressures.
Accommodation is in one of our beautiful holiday cottages which you can see here.
We ask for a contribution of £700 (winter months) to cover the costs for running the cottage for a month during the autumn/winter. (£450 for 2 weeks, £600 for 3 weeks). If more than one person is using the cottage there will be an additional £200 for the 4 week stay. We also kindly ask that the resident(s) leave us with a piece of work inspired by the time that they have spent at Mud and Wool.
It may also be possible to organise you holding a workshop if you would like to do some teaching whilst you are here and we could also look into seeing if it would be possible to show some of your work locally if you would like this.
The artist uses the space in the cottage but also has access to our open sided barn and potentially our main building which can both be used for larger work. Details can be discussed with us as to what your needs are and we can take it from there.
Please visit our Artist residencies pages to hear how our previous artists have found their time here at Mud and Wool.
To apply please contact us by email mudandwoolwales@gmail.com with a brief summary of you and your art and what you would like to get from having the time to pursue your art during the residency. Please contact us before with any questions that you may have by email or telephone 07539273122. We will then organise a video chat to meet you and discuss the residency further.
One of our high lights of our year is meeting our artists in residence and we will look forward to hearing from you.
